Espers: These are beings with super natural/ paranormal powers. These powers allowed them to perform actions normal people, animal, plants etc. wouldn't be able to do. There powers manifest themselves in the form of an Animus a powerful weapon. They also have the ability to cast powerful magic known as Magus.

Celeste:This is a a classification of Espers that are viewed as "good" in nature. They are more accepted by humans then their Necro counterparts and are more abundant in numbers then the Necro. Celeste have been known to have more pure abilities then the Necro this however doesn't mean they are limited to these kinds of abilities.

Necro: This is a a classification of Espers that are viewed as "evil" in nature. These Espers are feared by humans because of their ideals to create a whole genocide of the human race, seeing them as a weak yet destructive species. The numbers of Necro however have dwindeled and only a few if any remain.

Animus/Anima: The Animus/Anima is a powerful weapon that manifest itself from an Esper's power. These magical weapons come in different shapes and sizes and vary in abilities. An Animus is special to the Esper that manifested it, each Animus being exclusive to one Esper. A male's weapon is usually feminine: Anima; while equally a female's is usually masculine: Animus.

Totems: A Espers powers can manifest themselves into a sentiant being taking the form of anything it wants. These beings may help the Esper master their powers and Animus being apart of the Esper the Totem would know everything about the Esper and can use the Esper's powers. A Totem is connected to it's Esper and vice versa. If the Esper dies then the Totem would die as well likewise if the Totem dies the Esper would die with it. An Esper and it's Totem cannot be seperated from each other for vast distances doing so causes great pain for both the Esper and Totem. A Totem are the unconscious or true inner self of an individual, as opposed to the persona or outer aspect of the personality. In the unconscious of the male, it finds expression as a feminine inner personality; equivalently, in the unconscious of the female, it is expressed as a masculine inner personality.

Mana: Mana is a usually invisible substance to human and esper eye that fills the world of Rapture. Mana is what allows Espers, Totems and other creatures to perform Magus. Mana is found more abundantly in area where signs of human activity is not found (cities, factories etc.) The basis of all Magus in the world Mana is an important substance however it's use has become tainted by humans. Being used a power source, all other natural fuels now gone from over use Mana is now the main source of power.

Mana Stone: These special stones are created when Mana clusters together creating the object that is the Mana Stone. These stones allow the normal human to cast Magus and can be used to increase an Esper's abilities far beyond what they normally are. Holding great power it is these stones that causes wars, that are faught for the Mana Stones. Due to the power they hold Mana Stones are kept guarded at all times by Curator, not wanting the stones to fall to evil hands.

Mana Poisoning: When someone is exposed to Mana for a prologned time they will undergo the systems of Mana Poisoning. A person or creature under the effects of Mana Poisoning will be in a catatonic state, unmoving and unaware of the world sorrounding them. It can be said that the person is in a coma while in this state. The person's mind is stuck in an never ending dream that grants them happiness far beyond theirs in the real world.
